Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services is a human service agency in need of qualified and caring candidates to be employed in various capacities. Although the staff at Aging and Adult Services are considered Montgomery County employees and receive County benefits, all agency job openings are filled from those qualified candidates listed by the Civil Service Commission as having passed certain Civil Service testing in various job classifications.
These classifications include Aging Care Manager 1 and 2, as well as various other administrative and clerical positions listed under the "Summary of Civil Service Examinations" printed regularly by the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission. For a copy of the Civil Service application, you may contact either the PA State Civil Service Commission at (215) 560-2253, or the Human Resources Office for Montgomery County at (610) 278-3052 to have an application sent to you.
Openings may occur within any of our six regional offices located throughout Montgomery County. These offices include locations in Norristown (Central Office), Willow Grove (Eastern Office), Pottstown (Western Office), Lansdale (North Penn Office), Bryn Mawr (Lower Merion Office), and Pennsburg (Upper Perkiomen Office).
Process To Be Hired By Aging & Adult Services
First, obtain and review the test announcement for the position you are interested in, such as the Aging Care Manager 1.
Obtain and complete the PA State Civil Service Application for Employment for each test announcement you select.
Submit the completed, signed, and notarized application to the nearest PA State Civil Service Commission Office address (Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh) included with the application.
The Civil Service Commission will notify you as to a date, place, and time to take the test.
Once the test is taken, you will be notified by mail as to your score and ranking on the list of eligible candidates for each job classification within your county.
When a job vacancy occurs at the Montgomery County Office of Aging and Adult Services, a list is obtained from the State Civil Service Commission and each person on the list will be contacted to find out whether they would be interested in that job vacancy.
Complete and return the form letter received and state that you are interested in being interviewed for the available position.
If interested, you will then be contacted by staff from Aging and Adult Services to set up an interview.
Of those available candidates on the Civil Service list choosing to be interviewed, one of the top three candidates will be chosen and offered the position.
This candidate will still be required to complete a Montgomery County Application for Employment and be approved by the Salary Board prior to beginning employment with Aging and Adult Services.
